Episode 34

Womanhood Wonderland - Remastered | LAYC34

Alice in Wonderland isn’t the only one having trouble fitting into her circumstances and environment frequently.

As a woman, evolving, transforming, and growing to fit the part for my next stage of life, business idea, personal reinvention or relationship change, I think I could write a sequel to Lewis Carroll’s story and title it “Womanhood Wonderland”.

My story isn’t finished so I hope you’ll stay in touch to see how I turn out!

I’d like to hear your stories about the adventures you’ve had as you embraced transformation!

Speaker:

Welcome back my friends.

Speaker:

So happy to have you here to help me celebrate the end of summer 2021.

Speaker:

We are just about at the end of the month of August, and to welcome in September...

Speaker:

A new season on the calendar, and a new season in our

Speaker:

lives, as evolutionary women.

Speaker:

We're also here today to celebrate and commemorate...

Speaker:

National Women's Equality Day in the United States.

Speaker:

Today is the day, officially...

Speaker:

The political boys said...

Speaker:

Okay...

Speaker:

You're right.

Speaker:

We'd be better off...

Speaker:

If you all had a say in the laws that govern this country,

Speaker:

and laws that govern your life.

Speaker:

Disturbing for me is to think...

Speaker:

Oh my gosh, it's only just about a hundred years ago, that

Speaker:

women had the right to vote.

Speaker:

So what does that mean?

Speaker:

What does it mean the right to vote?...

Speaker:

It means a great deal for many people...

Speaker:

I'm certainly not a political commentator, but for me...

Speaker:

Equality means economic autonomy.

Speaker:

Economic autonomy that women everywhere in the world should have.

Speaker:

Because it makes sense.

Speaker:

It has been proven, that as women...

Speaker:

When we have the power to be economically autonomous...

Speaker:

Good things happen not only within our own families, but in our communities...

Speaker:

And that radiates out and ripples through countries and continents.

Speaker:

It connects women and people around the world, in a better productive way.

Speaker:

So let's recognize that it's a responsibility and a privilege to vote.

Speaker:

And celebrate together.

Speaker:

To continue our celebration...

Speaker:

We're going to offer to you today, a remastered, rejuvenated

Speaker:

version of episode 4...

Speaker:

Womanhood Wonderland.

Speaker:

I hope you enjoy.

Speaker:

I'll be back with our regular program starting in September.

Speaker:

Hello again, everyone!

Speaker:

Today, I'd like the opportunity to talk with you about a place that you may

Speaker:

have visited, or if you're like me...

Speaker:

I seem to frequent this location a lot...

Speaker:

Coming back again and again...

Speaker:

To revisit the very interesting environment of Womanhood Wonderland.

Speaker:

Yes.

Speaker:

Yes.

Speaker:

It's not just Alice that went to Wonderland.

Speaker:

I do it regularly....

Speaker:

If the truth be told, I bet you, you do as well.

Speaker:

It's the interesting thing about our life as evolutionary women, women who continue

Speaker:

to evolve and transform and grow...

Speaker:

And find ourselves faced with making choices to do, to be, to change things up.

Speaker:

That the landscape, the environment that we are in each time we make a decision

Speaker:

to expand our life and our experience...

Speaker:

Is a wild and wonderful place.

Speaker:

And at some times, it's a weary place...

Speaker:

And other times it's a scary place.

Speaker:

Womanhood Wonderland.

Speaker:

I think back to Lewis Carroll's story with Alice in Wonderland and

Speaker:

really how much I can relate to her as a character and her experiences.

Speaker:

Always throughout my life, I felt like I was falling...

Speaker:

Free, falling into some thing, that was adventurous and scary and unknown.

Speaker:

So very frequently and still to this very day...

Speaker:

That I am not fitting in quite right where I am at the moment.

Speaker:

I'm always being challenged to either shrink or grow, or I'm expanding

Speaker:

to exceed the space that I am in.

Speaker:

That's part of this magic of Womanhood Wonderland that we do.

Speaker:

We morph and change, and alter, all of the time.

Speaker:

If we choose.

Speaker:

Or if we don't choose, then we could sit around like that toadstool and just...

Speaker:

Smoke those hookah pipes.

Speaker:

But...

Speaker:

Really, I feel that the adventure as fearful as it is...

Speaker:

Is a far a better option for me anyway...

Speaker:

Than living a life of safety, contraction, and wondering...

Speaker:

What if?...

Speaker:

I had done that?...

Speaker:

Or tried that?...

Speaker:

Most recently, I have just gone through a brand new experience,

Speaker:

yet again, in my life...

Speaker:

When you thought I couldn't figure out something new to try or, to become.

Speaker:

After all, I am the author of Who Am I Now?...

Speaker:

So that I...

Speaker:

I live up to my book title.

Speaker:

Not to disappoint...

Speaker:

Recently my new experience was...

Speaker:

Learning the online world and terminology, and technology, and lingo of the

Speaker:

online summit, or the summit launch.

Speaker:

Which is a method for reaching more customers with your product or service...

Speaker:

By creating these large summits with speakers...

Speaker:

Could be a couple, could be thousands.

Speaker:

And having them come together with their expertise to speak on your platform.

Speaker:

Well, you know, it all sounds in concept, pretty straightforward.

Speaker:

Just follow the instructions.

Speaker:

But what I have found is that there's a lot that you only

Speaker:

find out by living through it.

Speaker:

Not everything is sequential in process.

Speaker:

And not everything is going to perform the way it's supposed to.

Speaker:

For example...

Speaker:

Just this morning, I was supposed to get an automated sequence of emails

Speaker:

going out to the people on my list...

Speaker:

To let them know that I was going to be hosting a free

Speaker:

Retreat and Mastermind Series.

Speaker:

And I was letting my people know...

Speaker:

Wanting to share a little bit about what that might mean for them...

Speaker:

And to invite them to register, get the zoom link, and show

Speaker:

up and participate live...

Speaker:

As live as we can today on zoom, or watch the replay later.

Speaker:

Well guess what Alice happened...

Speaker:

This very day, when all of that automation was supposed to take place...

Speaker:

My service provider had a major technical failure...

Speaker:

And all of those automations, at least for many clients, did

Speaker:

not happen as they should have.

Speaker:

And in fact, there's still a whole spaghetti mess going on behind the scenes.

Speaker:

Frankly, I just thought...

Speaker:

What can I do?

Speaker:

What can I do about this?...

Speaker:

Except say it's part of the learning process.

Speaker:

I will be adding to my vault of tacit knowledge and wisdom.

Speaker:

What do you do when technology fails you?

Speaker:

How do you...

Speaker:

Go to plan B, C, D, or E?...

Speaker:

And carry on, with a smile, and with confidence...

Speaker:

That you're still giving value in the world.

Speaker:

Just not quite at the time or in the way that you anticipated.

Speaker:

My friend, Jackie Ulmer says life is 50/50...

Speaker:

That things aren't always happening TO you...

Speaker:

Often you can look at the other side of the looking glass...

Speaker:

Dear Alice...

Speaker:

And say, Hmm...

Speaker:

Maybe this is happening FOR me.

Speaker:

So I'm trying very hard to hold on to that positive side, and look at

Speaker:

the reflection that will come from this experience that I will now know.

Speaker:

Oh yeah....

Speaker:

Well, first of all, it doesn't work Isabel...

Speaker:

To always do things at the last minute.

Speaker:

As much as you are a spontaneous lover of life...

Speaker:

And that you are the quintessential quickstart entrepreneur...

Speaker:

Having your system and process set up with a little more slack in the

Speaker:

timeline, is an advisable idea.

Speaker:

Yes dear Alice...

Speaker:

Much like the Queen of Hearts in Alice in Wonderland...

Speaker:

The truth be known this morning I was saying some really bad words about

Speaker:

people out there in the URL land...

Speaker:

And wanted to go...

Speaker:

Off with their heads!

Speaker:

Because they were not letting me get what I needed to get done in

Speaker:

the manner that I wanted to do it.

Speaker:

So what's a girl to do if she doesn't have a rabbit around with the pocket watch...

Speaker:

To keep track of the time that is elapsing while the retreat

Speaker:

that I had planned to host...

Speaker:

Tomorrow morning...

Speaker:

On a global scale...

Speaker:

May now have to be rescheduled...

Speaker:

or I'll just go ahead with the adventure in my own little imagination in my

Speaker:

rabbit hole and things will turn out the way that they were meant to be...

Speaker:

After all...

Speaker:

We never really do know the end of the story...

Speaker:

Until we get to that last page.

Speaker:

Even more reassuring for me, is knowing now...

Speaker:

After living this long in my crazy world...

Speaker:

That I get to write a new chapter...

Speaker:

Every time I want to.

Speaker:

If this first Retreat was much different than I expected...

Speaker:

It's okay...

Speaker:

I'm going to call that my practice retreat, and I get to do a second, and

Speaker:

a third, and a fourth, and a 1001th...

Speaker:

If I choose to do so.

Speaker:

What I can do within my control, is show up for this retreat, with all

Speaker:

of the intention that I first had...

Speaker:

And that is to share as a much of my wisdom and value as I can to my audience.

Speaker:

And really.

Speaker:

that's all we really can ask of ourselves.

Speaker:

Isn't it?

Speaker:

I know it's difficult, as an entrepreneur, as a woman, as a femmepreneur...

Speaker:

We want to be perfect.

Speaker:

We want everything to work out correctly.

Speaker:

But I recently heard a suggestion from another colleague of mine,

Speaker:

an accountability partner in a class that I'm taking...

Speaker:

That it's far better for us to exchange the word perfect for the word excellent,

Speaker:

in our attempt to learn new things.

Speaker:

And so that's what I'm going to do...

Speaker:

This isn't going to be perfect.

Speaker:

I'm sure.

Speaker:

But, it will be excellent to the extent that I deliver enthusiastically,

Speaker:

and stay committed to the original purpose of the event...

Speaker:

And that was to help women entrepreneurs understand truly

Speaker:

why most of us underpay ourselves.

Speaker:

What's the motive behind that?

Speaker:

What's the mindset?

Speaker:

Then to share the strategies and the tools that I have learned, as an

Speaker:

entrepreneur for many, many decades.

Speaker:

I'll make sure that I include the information here with the podcast, on...

Speaker:

Well really...

Speaker:

What happened with that Retreat and where you might find the recording...

Speaker:

So that you can see how Alice did after the tea party...

Speaker:

The recording.

Speaker:

For now, I wish you great adventures, and know that...

Speaker:

You're not the only one that's feeling kind of mad...

Speaker:

When you are trying to accomplish something new.

Speaker:

Do it anyway.

Speaker:

Do it with fear...

Speaker:

And do it with a sense of humor.

Speaker:

There will be a happy ending, I promise you.
